The Complete IBO Player Setup Guide

IBO Player is the only application NordikTV supports, and there is a good reason for that: it installs on practically every platform, including the non-Android smart TVs that defeat most IPTV apps. This guide covers installation, playlist activation and every setting worth knowing.

Estimated time: ten minutes. You will need the credentials NordikTV emailed after your order, an internet connection of at least 12 Mbps, and the device you intend to watch on.

One application, on purpose. NordikTV supports IBO Player exclusively. Standardising on a single well-documented app means our agents can diagnose any fault in minutes instead of guessing at an unfamiliar interface. IBO Player is a paid application — after a short evaluation window a small licence must be purchased directly from its developer.

Before you begin

What IBO Player Does Well — and What It Does Not

Strengths

  • Runs almost everywhere. Android, Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS and WebOS builds are all published, each with a direct installer.
  • Excellent on non-Android smart TVs. LG and Samsung sets run closed operating systems that most IPTV developers ignore. IBO Player ships native versions for both, which is the single biggest reason we chose it.
  • Tidy VOD section. The movies and series area is basic but well organised, with sorting by date, rating or alphabet and a working search.
  • Sixteen interface languages, including English and French.

Limitations — stated plainly

  • No recording. The application has no DVR function. Catch-up TV covers most of the same need but it is not the same feature.
  • No multi-screen. You cannot watch two channels side by side. Given our one-device rule this rarely bites, but it is worth knowing.
  • Remote playlist activation. Playlists are added through the IBO portal rather than typed into the app. Convenient, but it means the app depends on their API being reachable.
  • It is paid. A short evaluation period, then a one-year or lifetime licence purchased from IBODEV, the application's developer.

Installing IBO Player on Android Phones and Tablets

  1. Download the installation file from the IBO Player official website.
  2. Android will warn you that the file came from outside the Play Store. This is expected for sideloaded apps — choose Download Anyway.
  3. Open the downloaded file.
  4. Tap Install.
  5. Once installation completes, open the app.
  6. An introductory screen appears on first launch explaining what to do next. Read it, then continue to the playlist section below.
  7. The app loads and is ready.

Installing IBO Player on Windows

The Windows build requires Windows 10 or later and is published as a 64-bit installer.

  1. Download the Windows installer from the official site.
  2. Windows SmartScreen will interrupt because the file did not come from the Microsoft Store. Click More info.
  3. Click Run anyway to continue.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Tick the desktop shortcut option if you want one, then Next.
  6. Click Install to finish.
  7. Click Finish to launch IBO Player.

Installing IBO Player on Amazon Fire TV Stick

The Fire TV Stick needs a sideloading helper because IBO Player is not in the Amazon store.

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, highlight the magnifier icon, move down to the search field and press OK.
  2. Search for the Downloader app — typing “D” usually surfaces it as the first suggestion.
  3. Select the app to begin installation.
  4. Confirm with Download.
  5. Grant media access when prompted by selecting Allow.
  6. Open Downloader, move the selection to the URL field above the yellow Go button and press OK.
  7. Enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build: 511693, then press Go.
  8. The file downloads from the official source. Leave the remote alone until it completes.
  9. Wait for the download to finish.
  10. Fire OS will block the install because the file came from outside the Amazon store. Choose Settings.
  11. Select Install unknown apps. If you cannot see this option, open About and press OK seven times to reveal Developer Options, then return here.
  12. Highlight Downloader and press OK so the toggle switches from OFF to ON.
  13. Proceed through the normal install prompts with Next and OK.
  14. A first-run message appears once installed — press OK.
  15. The application is ready.

Installing IBO Player on macOS

  1. Download the macOS build from the official download section.
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the icon into your Applications folder.
  3. After a few seconds the app is installed. Open Launchpad and click its icon.
  4. macOS will refuse the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store.
  5. Click the Apple menu, choose System Settings, scroll to Privacy & Security, and scroll down on the right until you see the blocked-app notice.
  6. Choose Open Anyway. The permission is permanent and later launches proceed normally.
  7. The application is ready for use.

Installing IBO Player on LG and Samsung Smart TVs

This is where IBO Player earns its place. The steps below use an LG WebOS set; Samsung and Toshiba are near-identical.

  1. Open the LG Content Store (or the Samsung app store).
  2. Select the magnifier icon in the top right to search.
  3. Type IBO Player.
  4. Pick the correct result. Several similarly named apps exist — choose the one named exactly “Ibo Player” and ignore the variants.
  5. Select Install.
  6. Choose Launch to open it.
  7. A welcome message appears on first run. Continue to the playlist section below.
The important part

Adding Your NordikTV Playlist to IBO Player

IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. Rather than typing credentials into the app, you register them on the IBO portal and the app collects them.

Step 1 — Find your device details

  1. On the IBO Player website, open Manage Playlist from the top menu.
  2. The form asks for a MAC address and a device key. Both live inside the app.
  3. Open IBO Player on your TV or box and click the person icon on the main dashboard.
  4. Read the Device Info panel in the top left. Your MAC address and device key are there.
  5. Type both into the portal form and log in.

Step 2a — Add an M3U streaming line

If NordikTV sent you a single long streaming URL, this is the quicker route.

  1. From the portal dashboard click Add Playlist.
  2. Playlist name — any label you like, for example “NordikTV”.
  3. Playlist URL — paste the line exactly as we emailed it.
  4. XMLTV EPG URL — leave empty. IBO Player extracts guide data from the playlist by default, which is what you want with a NordikTV line.
  5. Protect this playlist — optionally set a PIN.
  6. Click Save.

Step 2b — Add an Xtream Codes (XC) playlist

If we sent you a username, password and host instead, use this route.

  1. From the dashboard click Add XC Playlist.
  2. Fill the same fields as above, plus Host — the server address from your email.
  3. Save, then return to the application.

Step 3 — Refresh

Back in IBO Player, press Data Refresh on the dashboard. The channel list, categories and EPG load within seconds. Open Live TV and you are watching.

Fixing the Messy Live TV Layout

This is the single most useful tip on the page. IBO Player ships with a default Live TV layout that overflows channel names under the preview window and misaligns the programme guide. It looks broken. It is not — it is one setting.

  1. From the IBO Player dashboard, click the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol.
  2. You are now in Live Screen Style. The default is “Malai TV Style”, which is the disorganised one. Switch to the alternative.
  3. Channel names now have room, the preview window fits properly and the EPG aligns.
  4. Categories are hidden in this layout — press the left arrow on the remote (or the back gesture on a touch device) to bring them back.

Adding a Channel to Favourites

  1. From the channel list, press and hold on the channel you want.
  2. Choose Add.
  3. A confirmation appears at the bottom and a heart icon shows beside the channel name.
  4. The Favourites list sits at the top of the category column.

Searching the Channel List

The search function is in the bottom-left corner of the Live TV overview and looks across every category. Note that it matches specific terms rather than fuzzy text, so a wrong combination returns nothing — type the beginning of the channel name for best results.

Movies and Series

The VOD section defaults to newest additions. Press and hold OK on any title to add it to favourites. Three controls sit in the top-right corner: category filter, a sort control (date, rating or alphabetical) and search.

The More Options Submenu

  • Stream URL Redirection Check — verifies whether your server address is serving directly or redirecting elsewhere.
  • Live TV EPG — the programme guide, enabled by default. Leave it on.
  • Use Extension in Stream URL — honours the extension type of the line you added, such as M3U_Plus.
  • Use M3U Format in Stream URL — forces every line to be treated as plain M3U.
  • Use Runtime for Movies — loads titles inside a movie category only when you open it.

Dashboard Buttons Along the Bottom

  • Wi-Fi — jumps to the device's wireless settings.
  • Live TV Style — the layout switch described above.
  • Main Info Section — details on the app, the device and the active playlist.
  • Activation Type — leave on the default system; it works reliably with NordikTV lines.
  • Settings — the configuration table above.
  • Data Refresh — reloads the full playlist. Use it whenever we add channels.
  • Exit — closes the application.

Managing Playlists From the Dashboard

An icon labelled M3U sits next to TV Archive on the dashboard. Open it to see every playlist stored on the device, with your Device ID and Device Key shown in the top-right corner. From there you can update a playlist's content, remove it, or add a new one in either Xtream Codes or M3U format.

Purchasing the IBO Player Licence

  1. Open the IBO Player website and choose Activate Device from the top menu.
  2. Sign in with your MAC address and device key (both under App Info at the bottom of the dashboard). If you have signed in before you will be taken straight through.
  3. From the left column choose Activate Device and pick a payment method.
  4. Accept the terms with the green button.
  5. Two licence options exist: one year, or lifetime. Choose one and click Checkout.
  6. Complete the payment form.
  7. Your MAC is activated on payment. Close and reopen the application so the change applies.
Troubleshooting

If Something Goes Wrong

Channels will not load

Run Data Refresh from the dashboard, then Clear Cache from Settings. If the list is still empty, confirm the playlist saved correctly in the IBO portal — a trailing space in a pasted URL is the usual culprit.

Picture stutters on one channel

Switch the Live TV Player engine from EXO to VLC in Settings. Different source feeds use different codecs and one engine occasionally handles a particular stream better.

The guide is blank or wrong

Clear Cache, then Data Refresh. Leave the XMLTV EPG URL field empty in the portal — NordikTV lines carry their own guide data and an external source overrides it incorrectly.

Still stuck? Message the desk from the contact page — median reply six minutes, in English or French. More answers sit in the FAQ.
